Tulsa Captures 4-3 Double Overtime Win Over Central Arkansas

The Tulsa women's soccer team captured a 4-3 double-overtime win over Central Arkansas on Thursday night at Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex in Conway, Ark.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 2-2-1 on the season, while Central Arkansas fell to 1-4 overall.
 
Sydney Brough put the Sugar Bears on the board at the 25:50 mark off an assist from Emma Hawkins and UCA maintained that lead heading into the break.
 
Emily Brandenburg evened the score in the 60th minute, but Hawkins scored two goals in the 63rd and 75th minutes to put Central Arkansas up 3-1.  Karsen Aguirre got one back for Tulsa at the 80:59 mark and then Isold Runarsdottir tied it up at 3-3 in the 82nd minute. 
 
Liliana Fernandez scored the game winner at the 101:56 mark on a penalty kick to give the Golden Hurricane the 4-3 win.
 
Tulsa had an 11-8 lead in shots, including a 6-5 edge in shots on goal, while Central Arkansas had an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Kayla Fernandez had a team-best four shots, while Aguire had two attempts, and five others had one attempt.  Emma Malsy logged all 101:56 in goal and picked up two saves.
 
Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, September 5 as they host Kansas City beginning at 2:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
