The American Announces Football Scheduling Model for the Next Four Seasons

TULSA, Okla. –– The American Athletic Conference announced today the football home and away schedules for the next four seasons (2023-26). The scheduling model was unanimously approved by The American's athletic directors this week.
The 2023 season will be The American's first with 14 football-playing institutions. The new-look league will consists of North Texas, Rice, SMU and UTSA from the state of Texas, as well as Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, Navy, South Florida, Temple, Tulane, UAB and Tulsa.
The schedule format calls for each team to play eight conference games each year. Each team will face the other 13 conference teams at least twice during the four-year cycle – once at home and once on the road.
In 2023, Tulsa will host league newcomers North Texas, Rice and Charlotte as well as hosting current AAC member Temple. On the road, the Golden Hurricane travels to SMU, Tulane, East Carolina and newcomer Florida Atlantic.
A year later, only four of those opponents from the 2023 season will be on the schedule –– Tulane, Rice, Florida Atlantic and Temple. The newcomers to Tulsa's slate in 2024 include UTSA, Navy, Memphis and UAB.
UTSA, Tulane, FAU and Navy are Tulsa's home opponents in 2024 with road games at Rice, Memphis, UAB and Temple.
In 2025, Tulsa hosts SMU, Rice, Memphis and UAB and will go on the road to North Texas, UTSA, South Florida and Charlotte. The 2026 home season schedule features North Texas, South Florida Charlotte and East Carolina, while SMU, Tulane, Florida Atlantic and Navy will host the Hurricane.
