Tulsa Starts Indoor Season Strong at Crimson & Gold Invitational

PITTSBURG, Kan. —
 The University of Tulsa track and field team started the indoor season on a strong note with 19 top-10 performances Saturday during the Crimson & Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State.
 
TU women put on a clinic in the 3,000-meter run, taking five of the top 10 spots in the 3,000-meter run. Senior Layla Roebke led the way for the Golden Hurricane with a second-place finish of 9:42.00.
 
Sophomore Jayda Gibson recorded a personal-best time of 39.37 in the 300-meter dash to earn another second-place finish for the Golden Hurricane women. Sophomore Anna Mager took ninth in the same race with a 40.53 finish.
 
In her first collegiate meet, freshman Sarah Hosey took second place in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:15.46.
 
On the men's team, sophomore Evan Sanni-Thomas secured Tulsa's first top finish of the season, earning first place in the 300-meter dash with a time of 33.81.
 
First-year freshman Braden Taylor took second overall in his first collegiate mile run with a 4:20.50 finish.
 
Tulsa will return to action on Jan. 13, to compete in the Arkansas Invitational.
