Tulsa Wraps Up Opening Day of Windy City Invite, Gorilla Classic

CHICAGO Ill. & PITTSBURG, Kan. ― The Tulsa track and field team, who have athletes competing in Chicago and Pittsburg, Kansas, wrapped up day one of the Windy City Invite and Gorilla Classic.
In Chicago, Peter Lynch's second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run highlighted the Hurricane. Lynch, who finished second in the 3,000-meter run at the Washburn Open, finished three seconds in front of a pair of Michigan runners.
In the 60-meter dash qualifying, Cameron Conyers finished in 6.94, good enough for 7th. Conyers advances to the finals tomorrow since the top-16 advance to the finals. Josh Sutton recorded a top-10 finish in the 200-meter dash at 21.71
On the women's side, Abbey Yuhasz finished 8th in the 5,000-meter run at 17:47.38, while Tulsa's distance medley relay team recorded a 'did not finish'.
At the Gorilla Classic, sprinters Zachary Adee finished in 3rd of the 60-meter dash while Kenney Solomon finished in 26th.
Rachel Hamel's time of 9.06 in the 60-meter hurdles put her in 16th place, while Cara Johnson finished 3rd in the 60-meter dash at 7.68, a new personal best for the senior from Foristell, Missouri. Hannah Booe finished in 70th with a time of 8.16.
Both the Badgers Windy City Invite and Gorilla Classic will continue tomorrow.
