TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team finished its first week back from Spring Break with a 75-play scrimmage Saturday morning at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
Â
"I was happy with the scrimmage today from the standpoint that we walked off the field healthy, number one, and I saw some good things on both sides of the ball," said Head Coach Philip Montgomery.
Â
"The defense made some plays, had a couple good goal line stands and forced some turnovers," said Montgomery. "Bryson Powers' interception in the end zone was a great play. It was a well-thrown ball and a great route, but just a better defensive play.
Â
"Offensively, Isaiah (Epps) had a really nice touchdown reception with a big move, we had a long TD run by J. (Jordan) Ford and another big touchdown run by Anthony (Watkins). When you see that good give-and-take and back-and-forth that's what you're looking for especially with the first scrimmage."
Â
Ford had a 65-yard touchdown run and Watkins' score went for 20 yards.
Â
Tulsa will be back on the practice field Tuesday afternoon.
