GAME BOX SCORE I SEASON STATS
TULSA, Okla. –– Taking a break from conference action for both teams, Tulsa hosted the No. 6-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Wednesday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
The Cowgirls went deep three times and scored five runs in the second and added seven more in the sixth to claim a 12-1 victory. OSU had 12 hits, while the Hurricane managed just two hits off OSU's hurler Morgan Day.
OSU improved to 35-7 on the season, while Tulsa fell to 14-24-1.
OSU had just four hits through five innings but exploded for eight hits in the sixth.
OSU's first three runs came on a three-run shot by Sydney Pennington and scored two unearned runs to take a 5-0 lead in the second inning. The Cowgirls were held scoreless in the next three innings with just two hits before its big sixth inning.
Morgan Wynne began the sixth with a solo home run and Katelynn Carwile hit a two-run homer to score OSU's next two runs. The Cowgirls added four unearned runs for its seven runs in the inning.
Tulsa's Haley Morgan went deep over the left field fence in the bottom of the third inning for the lone Golden Hurricane run of the game. Kailyn Bearpaw had Tulsa's only other hit.
Tulsa will return to American Athletic Conference play this weekend against South Florida with the first game on Friday at 3 p.m.
