TULSA, Okla. –– The first-ever Blue & Gold Gala kicked off Hall of Fame Weekend at The University of Tulsa Friday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The event drew more than 500 people and was the kickoff to the new Golden Hurricane Champions Fund, formerly known as the Golden Hurricane Club.

The Golden Hurricane Champions Fund, through strong and active membership, provides The University of Tulsa with critical funding to help meet the rising costs associated with operating a top collegiate athletics program. Even with a new look, the mission stays the same –– supporting student-athletes and helping them succeed at the highest levels in the classrooms, on the fields of play and in our communities.

Attendees at Friday night's event celebrated TU athletics with an evening of Las Vegas-style gaming, raffles, bingo, live music, food and drink and a live auction. The auction items included… football trips with the team to the Ole Miss and Navy games, a 2-night stay at the Arrow W. Adventures Cabin at the Westbrook Ranch, a handmade TU quilt made by Ashli Montgomery and a live Buffalo Painting by Chris Mantle.

Hall of Fame Weekend continues on Saturday with the Annual Spring Game. Festivities begin at 11 a.m., and the game will begin closer to noon. The Hall of Fame Dinner concludes the weekend's events later Saturday night at the Reynolds Center.

The 33rd class of Hall of Fame inductees includes individual award winners –– Olympic rower Michelle Sechser, National Champion miler Chris O'Hare, All-America soccer player Ryan Pore, MVC Football Offensive Player of the Year Jeb Blount and legendary basketball coach Tubby Smith. This year's Hall of Fame Honor Team is the 1971 College World Series Baseball Team.
