
Former TU Tennis Star Marcelo Arevalo Advances to the Doubles Semifinal at the French Open

PARIS, France — Former University of Tulsa tennis standout Marcelo Arevalo (El Salvador) and teammate Jean-Julien Rojer (Netherlands) will play in the doubles semifinals of the French Open at Roland Garros on Thursday.
The duo won their quarterfinal match 7-6 (8) and 6-3 over David Vega Hernandez and Rafael Matos on Monday. Arevalo and Rojer will now face the team of Matwe' Middelkoop (Netherlands) and Rohan Bopanna (India) in their quest to reach the championship match. The match is scheduled for 5:00 a.m. (ET)
Arevalo was a two-time letterwinner and all-conference performer for the Golden Hurricane. He was named C-USA Player of the Year and ITA Central Region Player to Watch as a sophomore. Arevalo compiled a career 29-14 singles mark and 30-11 doubles record during his tenure at Tulsa (2009-11).
