EUGENE, Oregon –– Tulsa's Micheal (pronounced Me-hall) Power finished in sixth place at the NCAA 5,000-Meter Championships at historic Hayward Field late Friday night with a season-best time of 13:31.23.
He is the fourth Tulsa runner since 2007 to finish among the top-15 at the NCAA 5,000m Outdoor Championships. Marc Scott holds the school's best NCAA 5,000m finish (14:36.57) with a fourth-place performance in 2017. A year ago, Patrick Dever also placed sixth with a personal-best time of 13:19.85.
By finishing in the top-eight, Power earned first-team All-America honors.
Power qualified for the 5,000m final when he clocked a fifth-place time of 13:31.4 at the NCAA West Regional in Fayetteville, Ark., two weeks ago.
