TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa football team was back at Harwell Field on Monday morning for 135-minute practice session.
Tulsa had an off day on Sunday after holding its first scrimmage of preseason camp a day earlier. Montgomery came off the practice field Saturday pleased with both sides of the ball.
After watching film from Saturday's scrimmage Montgomery was just as pleased.
"I saw a lot of good things," said Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery. "Our intensity level was good, guys were flying around and our communication was good. I was really pleased with the first scrimmage and the give-and-take on both sides."
As for Monday's workout, Tulsa changed things up in facing different schemes that the Hurricane will see throughout the season.
"Today and tomorrow are a little different," Montgomery said. "Offensively, we're going to get a chance to look at some four-man fronts that we'll see throughout the year, to get a feel for those rules and get those things targeted before we just get into game week and haven't seen it. It's the same thing defensively, we'll see a couple different offenses that we'll face throughout the year and so we'll try to get an opportunity to get a step ahead."
"We still did things against each other in the first part of practice, and then in the late part we worked against our scout team a little more from the standpoint of preparing for the season."
Tulsa will be back on the practice field Tuesday morning.
