first preseason practice.
Montgomery was just as excited for this first day than any other since beginning his coaching career.
"After 25 years of doing it and now eight seasons at Tulsa, one would think you'd get over the jitters of day one practice. But, that excitement and anticipation of getting on the field and the season finally starting is tremendous. You build up to it, you work towards it and now you finally get on the field and get to work with these guys."
"That feeling of excitement on day one never goes away," said Montgomery.
Montgomery was pleased with Tulsa's first day. "I thought we had good energy and focus. I thought our OTAs this summer really helped us. We came out a lot crisper than you would normally come out on day one," Montgomery said. "Competition was good today. We need to communicate a little better, but for day one I was pleased."
Tulsa will be back on the stadium turf Thursday at 6:30 a.m.
