Tulsa Cross Country Competes at Cowboy Preview

STILLWATER, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross-country teams competed in the Cowboy Preview on Thursday to open the 2022 season, taking fourth in the men's and fifth in the women's races.

Malte Propp paced the Golden Hurricane men, taking seventh with a 5K course time of 15:04.4. Propp improved his time by 18 seconds from last season at this same event, when he led the Tulsa men with a sixth-place finish.

Ryan Shumaker navigated the course in 15:12.4 to take 11th, while Max Nores grabbed 18th, Christian Williams took 20th, and Pete Johnson, Ben Black and Gian Pulido placed 26th, 35th and 37th respectively.

Oklahoma State took the team and individual awards, scoring 42 to Tulsa's 78 and having four runners in the top-10. Alex Stitt took the top spot as the Freshman raced around his home course in 14:54.9.

Katharina Pesendorfer placed 20th in the women's 3K to lead the Hurricane, finishing in 11:02.1. Avery Hill was right behind her in 21st with a time of 11:04.9, and Carlota Soler ran the course in 11:10.4 to take 24th place in her inaugural run with The University of Tulsa.

Robyn Kowalski placed 27th, Tamara Reeves and Kylee Reed finished back-to-back in 34th and 35th, and Keely Jones placed 37th to round out the Tulsa runners.

The Golden Hurricane cross-country teams will return to the OSU Cross Country Course on Sept. 24 for the Cowboy Jamboree. The course will also hold the NCAA Cross Country Championships this season on Nov. 19.
