THE STORYLINES . . .
•   Tulsa is in its 126th season of football in 2022.
•   Tulsa has the smallest FBS enrollment with a total enrollment of 3,705 students … Northern Illinois' enrollment is 9,540 students.
•   Tulsa and Jacksonville State are meeting for the first time on the gridiron.
•   Both teams average at least 37 points per game this season … Tulsa at 37.5 in two games and JSU 37.0 in three contests.
•   The two teams are each averaging over 450 yards of total offense … Tulsa averages 475.0 yards per game and JSU 456.0 yards.
•   Both teams have been effective in the red zone … Tulsa is 11-of-11, including seven touchdowns … Jacksonville State is 10-of-12, including nine TDs.
•   JSU gets most of its yards on the ground with an average of 277 per game to rank sixth in the FCS, while Tulsa has done it through the air the first two games, averaging 391.0 yards per game to rank third in the FBS.
 
FIRST & TEN . . .
•   Tulsa came into the season with 16 letterwinners and four starters on offense, while the defensive unit returned 21 lettermen and six starters.
•   A total of 13 players have made their first career starts this season in Tulsa's first two games … 10 players saw their first start in a Tulsa uniform in the season opener at Wyoming, including seven on offense and three on defense … three players made their first starts against NIU.
•   Tulsa scored 37 and 38 points in its first two games … the last time Tulsa tallied more than 30 points in its first two games of the season came in 2015 when the Hurricane scored 47 and 40 points in its first two games under Philip Montgomery.
•   With a 38-35 win over NIU last week, Tulsa improved its home-opening record at Skelly Field to 67-26 for a .720 winning percentage since the stadium was built in 1930.
•   Tulsa's 37 points in the season opener at Wyoming was the most in a road opener since scoring 49 points in a 51-49 loss at East Carolina on Sept. 5, 2010.
 
BRIN, STOKES 1-2 IN FBS . . .
•   After two weeks, QB Davis Brin has averaged 391.0 yards to rank as the national leader for FBS passing yards per game
•   Brin threw for a career-best 460 yards in opening weekend action at Wyoming and had 322 yards last week with a career-high 4 TDs against NIU.
•   Tulsa WR Keylon Stokes has put up back-to-back 100-yard receiving games with a total of 304 yards in the first two games.
•   Stokes's 152-yard average per game ranks second nationally behind Old Dominion's Allie Jennings' 161.0 yards in two contests.
 
TULSA 918 DAY ON SATURDAY . . .
•   It's "918 DAY" when Tulsa hosts Jacksonville State on Saturday … it is also Alzheimer's Day as TU again brings awareness to the disease.

•   Pregame festivities will kick-off at Chapman Commons with tailgating opening at 1 p.m.
•    Chapman Commons Concert Series entertainment will be provided by The Trett Charles Band.
 
BRIN NAMED AAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK . . .
•   Tulsa quarterback Davis Brin was named the AAC Offensive Player of the week after connecting on back-to-back passes for 55 yards with under two minutes to set up the game-winning touchdown in Tulsa's 38-35 victory over NIU.
•   Brin finished the game with 322 yards and a career-high four touchdowns on 19-of-32 passing.
•   A week earlier, Brin opened the season with his second 400+ yard career passing game when he passed for 460 yards at Wyoming.
•   He completed 30-of-52 passes and threw for three touchdowns, while finding three receivers each for over 100 yards.
•   Brin's 460 yards is the 6th best in school history and most since David Johnson's 469 yards against New Mexico in 2008.
•   In two games, Brin has thrown for 782 yards and seven TDs for an NCAA FBS high of 391-yard average per game with a pass efficiency rating of 161.6.
•   In NCAA stats, Brin ranks 1st for passing yards per game (391.0), 4th for total offense (388.5), 4th for passing yards (782), 5th for passing TDs (7), 8th for passing yards per completion (15.9), 13th for points responsible for (42) and 15th for completions per game (24.5).
 
15.0+ FOR FOUR TULSA RECEIVERS  . . .
•   Tulsa has four receivers each with an average of over 15 yards per reception.
•   JuanCarlos Santana has a team-high 17.2 yards per catch, followed by Isaiah Epps (16.9), Malachai Jones (16.4) and Keylon Stokes (16.0).
•   The four receivers also have at least one reception for over 30 yards this season.
•   All four are also averaging over 55 yards per game ––152.0 for Stokes, 94.5 for Santana, 82.o for Jones and 59.0 for Isaiah Epps
 
NEVER BEFORE HAS TULSA HAD THREE GO FOR 100 IN SEASON OPENER . . .
•   Never before in school history had three Tulsa players each go over 100 yards receiving in a single game.
•   Tulsa has had two 100-yard receivers in a single game 26 times dating back to the first time in 1964 when Howard Twilley had 146 yards and Eddie Fletcher 105 yards,
•   But, in the 2022 season opener the Hurricane set the school record with three 100+ yard receivers when Keylon Stokes led with way with 169 yards, followed by Malachai Jones with 103 and JuanCarlos Santana with 102 yards … they each caught a TD in the game as well.
 
A NEW O-LINE . . .
•   Coming into the season opener, Tulsa's first game starting lineup had zero career starts among the offensive linemen with just 23 game appearances in a Tulsa uniform.
•   The opening game lineup featured LT Dillon Wade, LG Chester Baah, C Will Farniok and two FBS transfers – RG Darrell Simpson and RT Kai Leon Herbert.
•   Herbert suffered a first half injury and was replaced by Jaden Muskrat, who had 8 previous game appearances with one start, coming in the 2020 Bowl game against Mississippi State.
•   In the second game, the right side had two different starters, including RG Tai Marks and RT Jaden Muskrat.
•   Now, between the seven players who have starts on the offensive line – Wade, Baah, Farniok and Muskrat each have two starts, while Marks, Simpson and Herbert have one start each – the group has now combined for 11 career starts.
 
MORE ON STOKES' RECEIVING ENDEAVORS . . .
•   Keylon Stokes ranks sixth on the school's career passing chart with 2,854 yards.
•   Stokes came back this year from an injury that sidelined him for nine games in 2021 to catch a career-high 11 passes for a career-best 169 yards in the 2022 season opener at Wyoming.
•   As a true freshman in 2017, Stokes had 143 receiving yards, jumped to 575 a year later, 1,040 yards in 2019, had 644 in a covid-shortened 9-game season in 2021 and had 148 in just four games a year ago for his 2,550-yard career receiving total in 46 career games.
•   Stokes entered the 2022 season just 793 yards shy of tying for the school record that has stood for nearly 60 years (Howard Twilley, 1963-65 ––3,343 yards in 32 games) … he is now 489 yards shy of Twilley's record.
•   In NCAA stats, Stokes ranks 2nd for receiving yards (304), 2nd for receiving yards per game (152.0), 3rd for all-purpose yards (182.5), 4th for receptions per game (9.5) and 15th for punt returns (12.2).
