Beattie Named The American Track Runner of the Week

IRVING, Texas — Distance runner Scott Beattie of The University of Tulsa track team was named The American's Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday. It is his first career weekly track award and TU's first track athlete of the week since Isaac Akers last year on Feb. 1.

From Newcastle, England, Beattie set meet and facility records during the 3,000-Meter Pro Hawkeye Run at Iowa's Larry Wieczorek Invite, finishing first overall in 7:50.10. The senior also finished fifth overall in the Mile Hawkeye Run in 4:05.63.

The Hurricane will return to Kansas this Saturday, Jan. 28, to compete in Pittsburg State's Wendy's Invite.
