Tulsa’s Deneric Prince Records 4th Best 40 Time for Running Backs at NFL Combine

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  –– Running backs took center stage Sunday at the NFL Scouting Combine as Tulsa's Deneric Prince turned in the fourth-best time in the 40-yard dash among the 27 running backs participating at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The 6'0" Prince turned in his best time of 4.41 on his first attempt and followed that with a 4.46. His 40 time only trailed Texas A&M's Devon Achane (4.32), Alabama's Jahmyr Gibbs (4.36) and East Carolina's Keaton Mitchell (4.38).

Prince also tied for 4th place in the 10-yard split with a time of 1.53 and a 4th place tie in the broad jump at 10'4". His vertical jump measured at 35.50" for 9th place among running backs.

Prince is coming off a senior season in which he rushed for 729 yards and five touchdowns in just eight games. He averaged 5.8 yards per carry and 91.1 yards per game. Prince had two 200+ rushing games in the 2022 campaign, including 231 yards vs. Temple and 220 yards against USF.

It marked the fourth straight season that Tulsa had a player participate at the NFL Combine. The previous Tulsa participants included Trevis Gipson (DE) and Reggie Robinson II (DB) in 2020, Zaven Collins (LB) in 2021, and Chris Paul (OL), Tyler Smith (OL) and Josh Johnson (WR) in 2022.
