AZUSA, Calif. — Juniors Chloe Hershenow and Layla Roebke set new University of Tulsa outdoor track records late Thursday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific.
Hershenow finished 12th overall in the women's 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:21.75, smashing the previous record (Alex Becker, 33:44.63) by nearly 23 seconds. Roebke broke her own school record (10:09.23) in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, cruising to a 10:07.80 finish and crossing the finish line 16th out of 120 competitors.
Hershenow and Roebke's respective finish times each rank as top marks in the American Athletic Conference.
All eight Golden Hurricane runners on Thursday set new personal bests, including Cormac Dalton. The senior from Mullingar, Ireland, ran the men's 10,000-meter run in 28:04.29, cracking Tulsa's all-time leaderboards as the third-fastest finish in the event.
Action in Azusa continues for Tulsa on Friday as Shay McEvoy and Micheal Power will race in the men's 5,000-meter run invite, starting at 11:47 p.m. central time.
