Lilly Thomas Wins Medalist Honors, Tulsa Finishes Second at The Bruzzy

ARDMORE, Okla. –– Tulsa's Lilly Thomas scored a 2-under par 68 in final round action at the Bruzzy on Sunday to take medalist honors with a 2-under par 208 54-hole total score at the Dornick Hills Country Club course.
 
As a team, the Hurricane made up six strokes on first-place North Texas but couldn't overtake the host team, falling by two strokes and finishing in second place. North Texas completed the tournament with a 16-over par 856 score, while Tulsa turned in a final round 287 and finished at 18-over 858 for the three rounds.
 
Thomas' first-place performance was her first individual career victory and her ninth career top-10 finish. It was also Thomas' sixth finish this year among the top-12.
 
Thomas began the day with three birdies on her first six holes and finished the front nine at 2-under par. She added birdie putts on holes 13 and 15 to go 4-under par, but went bogey-bogey on the final two holes before finishing the final 18 holes with a 2-under 68 score.
 
Lovisa Gunnar moved up from 13th to a fourth-place tie on the final day with an even-par 70 to finish the tournament at 4-over par 214. Gunnar turned in two birdies and two bogeys on the day.
 
Grace Kilcrease had her sixth top-10 performance in her rookie season with her 10th place finish for a 216 total score after a round of 75 today. Fellow freshman Jenni Roller finished in 22nd place with a final score of 221, while Sydney Seigel placed 40th overall place with a total score of 224.
 
Tulsa will be back in action at the American Athletic Conference Championships, April 17-19, in Brooksville, Fla.
