Olson Leads Tulsa on Opening Day at Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – Samantha Olson carded a three-under-par 67 to lead the Tulsa women's golf team in Saturday's opening round of the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club.
The Golden Hurricane registered a one-under-par team score of 279 on the par-70, 6,182-yard course and sits in seventh place in the 16-team field. Tulsa is two strokes behind fifth-place Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech. For the full leaderboard, click here.
TCU holds the team lead following an opening-round 270, 10 strokes under par. Host Oklahoma is second at eight-under par, followed by Iowa State at six under and Florida State at four under.
Olson finished the day tied for eighth place, four shots behind co-leaders Haruhi Nakatani of Florida State and Ellie Bushnell of Oklahoma State. Both golfers opened with five-under-par rounds of 65.
Eva Kiri Fevzer added an even-par 70 for Tulsa and is tied for 26th place. Allyn Stephens and Zoe Shamy each turned in one-over-par rounds of 71 and are tied for 35th, while Jeanne Pagnier is tied for 50th after shooting a two-over-par 72.
Competing as an individual, Tulsa's Sayers Allen recorded a one-under-par 69 and enters the second round tied for 21st place.
The 54-hole tournament continues Sunday with the second round at Belmar Golf Club. The 18-holes will be a shotgun start starting at 8:15 a.m. CT. TU will play with UCF and Kansas State. They will tee off from 7-9. Allen will start on hole 18.
