IRVING, Texas — University of Tulsa track standout Scott Beattie was named The American Men's Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday. It is the second weekly honor this season for the senior from Newcastle, England.

Beattie ran the men's 5,000-meters in 13:30.57 at the Payton Jordan Invitational last week, finishing fourth of 22 for the conference's top mark in the event and the nation's 13th-best performance. The American's next closest mark belongs to teammate Shay McEvoy (13:47.43).

Beattie also stands atop the conference in the 10,000-meter run with a 27:58.92 mark that he ran at the Stanford Invitational in March, which stands as the fourth-fastest finish in the country.

The Golden Hurricane will hit the road for two meets this week, including the Drake relays (April 27-29) and the Rock Chalk Classic (April 29).
