The Tulsa women's soccer team garnered a 4-0 shutout victory over the UTEP Miners Thursday night at the Hurricane Soccer Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane snapped a six-game losing streak to move to 1-6 on the season, while the Miners dropped to 1-5-1 overall.

"Tonight's win goes a long way for the girls because they have a sense of belief now that we can score goals. I mean you score two goals in your first six games and then four in your seventh game it's probably something that was a long time coming, but soccer is a strange game. You can outshoot your opponent, you can out possess your opponent, and you don't turn out with the same result," Jim Rhein said.

Tulsa will return to action this Sunday, September 10 against Central Arkansas beginning at 1:00 pm in Conway, Ark.

How it Happened
Tulsa's goal was scored at the 13:14 mark on a cross from the right side of the box leading to a tap in for Madison Tokarchik assisted by Kayla Fernandez to give TU an early 1-0 lead.

Tulsa scored again at the 24-minute mark on a deep cross from Madison Tokarchick leading to a header just inside the six-yard box by Liliana Fernandez, making the score 2-0 in favor of the Golden Hurricane.

Tulsa scored again at the 79-minute mark on a shot by Leah Diaz in the top right corner from eight yards out assisted by Madison Williams.

Tulsa scored it's final goal of the game in the 84th minute on a shot by Kaylyn Simmons just in front of the penalty spot, giving TU a commanding lead 4-0.
