
Tulsa Falls in Doubleheader at #24 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Tulsa dropped both games of a doubleheader with No. 24 Texas A&M in the final day of the Aggie Classic on Sunday, falling 8-5 and 8-0.
Originally only scheduled to play once on Sunday, Tulsa's schedule was changed due to both Saturday games getting rained out. Instead, Tulsa (2-2, 0-0 AAC) and Texas A&M (4-0, 0-0 SEC) agreed to play two on Sunday.
In the first game, Tulsa pitchers allowed six walks on the day with four of those scoring runs for the Aggies. Texas A&M drew eight walks in the game two, three coming around to score. The Aggies also took advantage of a couple of defensive mistakes to score runs in the second and third innings.
Maura Moore (1-1) got the start in the opener, allowing four runs on five hits, walking four and striking out one. All four runs came on a grand slam. Alexa Hopkins came on in relief and tossed the final 3.1 innings. She allowed four runs on three hits.
Kylee Nash spun 3.2 innings of two-hit ball in the second game. The senior hurler allowed four runs, two of which were earned. She walked six Aggies and struck out four. Anneca Anderson and Kaiya Luneckas pitched the remainder of the game, with Anderson going and inning and a third, and Luneckas facing a pair of batters in the sixth.
Left fielder MacKenzie Denson, Kailyn Bearpaw and Abby Jones each had two hits in the opening game. Denson also knocked in a pair of runs, while Jones had one RBI. Nash did some damage at the plate as well, driving in two runs with a double .
GAME 1 – TEXAS A&M 8, TULSA 5
After a scoreless first inning, Tulsa opened the scoring in the second frame with three runs. Kailyn Bearpaw led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a ground out and made it to third base on a Maci Cole single. Abby Jones singled up the middle to score Bearpaw, while DP Kylie Nash's double brought in both Cole and Jones
A&M loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning, but Maura Moore got out of the inning with her team still leading 3-0.
The Aggies loaded the bases again in the bottom of third on three walks and a single before Allie Enright's homer to left center field cleared the bases for a 4-3 A&M lead after three innings.
A&M added at least one run in the next four innings for the win. In the 4th inning the Aggies scored one run on two hits for a 5-3 lead and another in the 5th on a leadoff home run by Jazmine Hill. In the 6th, the home team scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th after one hit and a ground out.
Tulsa loaded the bases in the top of the 7th with two outs and proceeded to tally two runs on a MacKenzie Denson double, scoring Jayla Park and Kennedy Cramer.

GAME 2 – TEXAS A&M 8, TULSA 0 (6)
Texas A&M collected the only hit of the first three innings but managed to push runs across in the second and third. A walk in the second inning, followed by consecutive stolen bases and an error trying to nab the runner at third brought in the game's first run. In the bottom of the third, the Aggies got a one-out single to center field. The runner stole second and advanced to third on an error, and then was brought home on a ground out to second.
The hosts would go on to score two in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while holding Tulsa off the board. The Aggies capitalized with a two-run homer in the fourth to double its lead. In the fifth, a leadoff home run gave them a five-run advantage. A pair of walks and consecutive groundouts brought in the sixth run. Texas A&M got a leadoff single in the sixth inning, and advanced to second. Another single scored the seventh run. After stealing second and advancing to third on a wild pitch, the game-ending run scored on a single back to the pitcher.
Imani Edwards collected Tulsa's lone hit of the afternoon with a single down the right field line in the fourth inning.

The Golden Hurricane is back in Texas the following weekend for the TXST Tournament in San Marcos, Texas. Tulsa will play games against Northern Colorado, Texas State, Texas Tech and Sam Houston, starting on Friday.
