TULSA, Okla. –– Tulsa guard PJ Haggerty was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week for a record-breaking 10th time this season, the league announced on Monday.

The award breaks a tie between Haggerty and UCF's Taylor Hendricks, who won the award nine times in the 2022-23 season. Haggerty also passes former Louisiana Tech forward Kenneth Lofton Jr., who won the award nine times as a member of Conference USA in the 2021-22 campaign, giving Haggerty the most such awards won by a player under Coach Eric Konkol.

In two games this past week, Haggerty averaged 20.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 44 percent from the floor. He pushed his scoring streak to five straight games of 20 or more points, and 11 of the past 13 contests. The freshman guard narrowly missed out on a double-double in Sunday's game with UAB, scoring 21 points and pulling down a career-best nine rebounds.

Entering this week's slate of games, Haggerty has scored 456 points on the season. He's 15 shy of breaking Shea Seals' freshman record of 470 points, that has stood since 1993-94.

The Golden Hurricane returns to action this Wednesday with a road contest at South Florida. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. (CT) and will air on ESPNU. The Hurricane return to the Reynolds Center to face Rice on Saturday for Legends Day.
