TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa football team has been on the field at H.A. Chapman Stadium for two of 15 spring practices. The Hurricane began drills on Saturday, March 2, and was back on the field Tuesday.

Head Coach Kevin Wilson has been pleased with the vibe and energy of the Golden Hurricane team.

"A spring ago, in our first year, we had to set an overall culture of what we wanted to do and really didn't know these guys," said Wilson. "This year, we had to get stronger and we've done a lot more group workouts through winter in building chemistry. We know the individual kids better and know what our guys had to work on. My whole idea this spring is trying to develop the individual.

"This spring has been about getting stronger, continue to do well academically, but develop the kid individually then put the team together as we finish the spring and get into summer. The energy has been really good. We're slowing down some of the practice with more individual work, more teaching.

"There's a good team vibe. I like the chemistry of our team. I think the players have a good feel for me and the coaches, and we have a good feeling for them," added Wilson.

Tulsa will have four more practice sessions before spring break, March 18-22.
