TULSA, Okla. — The 2024 Tulsa women's soccer season gets underway this week as the Golden Hurricane hosts Central Arkansas on Thursday, August 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the Hurricane Soccer Stadium and heads to Springfield, Mo., to take on Missouri State on Sunday, August 18, at 4:00 p.m.

Home match tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com/tickets or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688.

Fans unable to attend Thursday's season opener in person can subscribe to ESPN+ to watch select Golden Hurricane soccer, football, tennis, volleyball, soccer, softball and basketball games. Tulsa, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Jim Rhein, returns 15 letterwinners, including nine starters, welcomes back an additional 4 squad members and adds 10 newcomers to the roster. TU returned 62 percent of its goal-scoring, including 2023 goal leader Jordan Frederick, who had five goals last season and took home American Athletic Conference All-Conference honors. Also returning for the Hurricane is goalkeeper Tatum Sanders, who logged 1,300 minutes in the net and recorded 62 saves en route to four solo shutouts.

Central Arkansas went 8-7-5 a year ago and reached the semifinal round of the ASUN Conference Championship. Last season's meeting between the Bears and TU ended in a 2-0 clean slate for the blue and gold in Conway, Ark. The Hurricane owns the overall series, 6-1, heading into Thursday.

The Bears return 24 players from last season and eight starters, including All-ASUN selection and Midfielder of the Year Kelly Van Gundy. She is joined by fellow All-ASUN defender Gabby Thies. Van Gundy won Midfielder of the Year after logging 18 points, scoring seven goals and adding four assists, while Thies anchored a defense that recorded four shutouts in 2023.

Missouri State returns 18 players from a squad that went 12-2-5 last year. Slated to win the Missouri Valley Conference this season, the Bears led the NCAA in shutout percentage (.684) with 13 clean sheets in a 19-game season in 2023.

Although Missouri State won last year's contest over Tulsa, 3-1, the Hurricane maintains a 14-8-3 lead over the Bears.
