TULSA, Okla. –– The nation's 13^th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys cruised to a 45-10 victory over Tulsa in the Gateway Turnpike Classic Saturday afternoon in front of sellout crowd of 30,915 fans at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

The Cowboys amassed 560 yards of total offense while five of its six touchdowns came through the air as Alex Bowman completed 24-of-31 passes for 396 yards and five scores. The OSU run game only gained 129 yards on the ground.

Tulsa managed 352 total yards with 236 coming through the air and 116 on the ground. Kirk Francis threw for 153 yards, while Kamdyn Benjamin led Tulsa receivers with 94 yards and Anthony Watkins had a team-high 40 rushing yards. Dayne Hodge led the Tulsa defense with 11 tackles as the unit held last year's NCAA leading rusher Ollie Gordon to just 41 yards on 17 carries.

OSU scored 28 unanswered first-half points, all coming on pass plays, while holding a 326 to 187-yard advantage in total yards. The Cowboys added 17 second-half points, while the OSU defense limited the Hurricane to just 10 fourth-quarter points.

Despite controlling possession time in the first period, 10:34 to 4:26, the Cowboys held just a 7-0 lead but exploded for 21 second-quarter points. The first OSU score came at the 8:38 mark on a 75-yard, 16-play drive.

OSU opened the second quarter just as they did a period earlier with seven points on its first second-quarter drive for a 14-0 lead with 12:47 on the game clock. OSU's Bowman connected on a 78-yard pass to Talyn Shettron for a 21-0 lead and a possession later Bowman found Josh Ford for 18 yards and a 28-0 lead with 3:23 left in the first half.

The Cowboys expanded its lead to 35-10 with 10 points in the third period and added a fourth-quarter touchdown for the final margin of victory.

At the 6:15 mark, Seth Morgan put three points on the board for the Hurricane with a 43-yard field goal, his longest of the season. Tulsa scored its first TD at the 1:55 mark as fourth-team QB Stephen Kittleman ran the final nine yards on a 64-yard, four-play drive.

Tulsa will close out its non-conference schedule next Saturday, 6 p.m. at Louisiana Tech before returning home for its American Athletic Conference opener on Oct. 5 against first-year league member Army.

•       Oklahoma State took the 8:38 off the clock on its opening drive for a 75-yard, 16-play scoring drive.
•       Tulsa took its first possession to the OSU 27-yard line, but a 44-yard field goal attempt went wide left.
•       OSU held a 128 to 45-yard edge in total yards with an 81-0 advantage in the passing department.

2^nd Quarter Breakdown
•       After scoring just seven first-quarter points, the Cowboys exploded for 21 in the second period for a 28-0 halftime lead.
•       OSU scored on three consecutive possessions in the quarter.
•       OSU opened the second quarter with a 10-play, 65-yard scoring drive for a 14-0 lead with 12:47 remaining in the half.
•       Tulsa completed its first pass of the game on the fourth attempts of the game when Kirk Francis threw 6 yards to Kamdyn Benjamin.
•       OSU went ahead 21-0 at the 9:05 mark of the quarter on a 78-yard pass from Alan Bowman to Talyn Shettron.
•      A possession later Bowman found Josh Ford for 18 yards and a 28-0 lead with 3:23 left in the first half.
•       OSU ended the half with a 28-0 lead and a 326 to 187-yard edge in possession time.

3^rd Quarter Breakdown
•       Tulsa's offense gave up its first QB sack of the season, a nine-yard loss at the 9:28 mark of the quarter.
•       OSU's Bowman connected on his 5^th TD pass of the game with a 63-yard strike to De'Zhaun Stribling on just the second play of the drive for a 35-0 lead at the 8:18 mark.
•       Tulsa senior Jehlen Cannady had his first career interception to put Tulsa at the OSU 38-yard line.
•       OSU responded with an interception of their own and turned that takeaway into a 43-yard field goal and a 38-0 lead.
•       Tulsa managed just 66 third-quarter yards.
•       The last time Tulsa was scoreless after three quarters came on Nov. 19, 2020, when the Hurricane trailed Tulane 14-0 but came back for a 30-24 overtime (2) win.

4^th Quarter Breakdown
•     The Cowboys made the score 45-0 at the 10:05 mark of the period when Sesi Vailahi ran the final one year in a 12-play, 56-yard drive.
•    Tulsa avoided a shutout with a 43-yard Seth Morgan field goal at the 6:15 mark.
•     Stephen Kittleman, Tulsa's fourth-team QB, scored his first career TD with a nine-yard run just after the two-minute warning.
