TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa women's soccer team outpaced Texas A&M-Commerce 2-1 Thursday night under the lights of Hurricane Soccer Stadium, moving to 4-0 at home for the first time since 2015. The Golden Hurricane improved to 4-1-2 on the season and dropped the Lions to 1-4-1.

Scoring for the Hurricane was redshirt junior forward Hannah Chance, who sent the ball into the lower right quadrant of the net in just under two minutes. Sophomore forward Leah Diaz, who assisted the opening goal, drove in the game-winning score off the foot of freshman forward Blaine Schutte who received the ball from senior defender Madison Williams.

Tulsa out-shot the Lions 15-7 with five shots on goal to Commerce's three. At full time, the Hurricane had made it to the corners seven times, and the Lions finished with six corner kicks.

The Hurricane will hit the road for Kansas City (3-0-3) on Sunday, Sept. 8, with kickoff against the Roos at 1 p.m.

How it Happened
Hannah Chance got Tulsa on the board early in the game, netting a goal in just the second minute from the upper left penalty area and into the lower right quadrant of the goal. Leah Diaz was the one to cross it over to Chance for the opening advantage.

Aniya Facen had a chance to make it a 2-0 game when she was fouled in the 37th minute in the Lions penalty area, setting up Tulsa's first penalty kick of the season. Facen attempted to roll the ball into the lower right corner of the goal, but Commerce's goalkeeper Gillian McKenzie fell on top of it and snuffed out the scoring opportunity.

At the half, Tulsa had seven shots and Texas A&M-Commerce had three shots. Both squads had two shots on goal.

In the 66th minute, Diaz drove in the game-winning goal off her right foot from the top of the penalty area. Madison Williams sent the ball an eighth of the way down the field off the throw-in, landing perfectly in front of Blaine Schutte, who dumped the ball off to Diaz for the score.

Texas A&M-Commerce eventually found the poles in the 71st minute of the contest when Hannah Bell juked out the Tulsa goalkeeper and shot into the open net to make it a 2-1 ballgame.

Tulsa's defense was able to stave off any potential comeback by the Lions in the final 19 minutes of the game, thanks in part to two team saves down the stretch.
