BOX SCORE (PDF) | SEASON STATS (PDF)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Tulsa women's soccer team faced a tough Kansas City Roos team (4-0-3) that hadn't taken a loss through the first three weeks of the season and came up short, 2-1, on the Roos home field Sunday afternoon. The 4-2-2 Golden Hurricane will remain on the search for its first road win.

It was a tough battle as Kansas City's defense held Tulsa scoreless through 89 minutes. It was the heroics of freshman pair Aniya Facen and Ady Betchel that saved Tulsa from the shutout. Facen, a forward, scored her first career goal with just four seconds to go, and she was set up by Bechtel, a midfielder.

Kansas City spent most of the game on Tulsa's side of the field, recording 20 shots, 10 shots on goal and four corner kicks. TU had nine total shots with five on goal to go with just two corner kicks.

Next up for the Hurricane is the American Athletic Conference opener. Tulsa will take on second-place Rice (5-1-1) in Houston on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m.

How it Happened
It was a quiet first half as neither team could net a goal in the first 45 minutes. It was a fairly even game statistically as both teams had two shots on goal and two corner kicks with Kansas City having seven total shots to Tulsa's four.

Kansas City broke the deadlock in the 51st minute when forward Madison Page sent the ball into the net following passes from her teammates Lily Hollis and Kayda Kamolz. Kamolz would set up Page with another goal in the 73rd minute to give the Roos a 2-0 lead with less than 18 minutes to go.

In the waning seconds of the contest (89:56), true freshman forward Aniya Facen scored her first career goal from just outside the goal area into the lower left quadrant of the goal. She was set up by freshman teammate Ady Bechtel.
