Tulsa Women’s Soccer Kicks off Conference Play at Rice Thursday, Hosts Oklahoma Sunday

TULSA, Okla. — The 4-2-2 Golden Hurricane women's soccer team is set to kick off the American Athletic Conference schedule against Rice (6-1-1) this Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. in Houston. Then, Tulsa will come home to host the University of Oklahoma Sunday night at 7 p.m. under the lights at Hurricane Soccer Stadium.

Thursday marks the 18th all-time contest between Tulsa and the Owls. Rice currently leads the series 11-6, but TU won last year's game at home, 2-1, to snap a three-match losing streak to the Owls.
Rice is 6-1-1 on the year and undefeated at 6-0-1 when playing at home. Last week, the Owls tied Louisiana 2-2 and shut out Sam Houston 1-0. Tulsa is 2-6 when facing Rice in Houston.
Tulsa welcomes the Oklahoma Sooners for the 17th game in the all-time series. OU currently leads Tulsa 2-13-1 with Tulsa's last win coming in 2000. The Hurricane seeks its first home win against the Sooners.
OU is 5-1 to start the year and 1-1 in road games. Last week, the Sooners outscored opponents 12-0 at home, shutting down Stetson, 7-0, and Missouri State, 8-0.
Junior forward Jordan Frederick has been the ultimate team player through four weeks of competition. She enters the game on Thursday tied for second in the country with six assists and ranks 19th for assists per game (19). Frederick leads The American in both benchmarks.
Sophomore Leah Diaz and freshman Aniya Facen, both forwards, are tied for 11th in Division I with five assists each. Diaz also has five goals to her name, giving her a conference-leading 15 points, which is also the 12th-highest mark across the country.
True freshman forward Blaine Schutte remains atop the league's leaderboard with six goals on the year. She ranks 11th among all goal-scorers in the nation.
As a team, Tulsa is third in the country for total goals (26), fourth for total assists (28) and total points (80), 10th for assists per game (3.5) and points per game (10) and 12th for goal differential (+17).
