Ranked Sooners Too Much for Tulsa at ITA Kickoff Weekend

NORMAN, Okla. — The Tulsa men's tennis team fell 4-0 to the 8th-ranked team in the land in the Oklahoma Sooners during the opening round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Norman. The Golden Hurricane dropped to 2-2 on the young season and will face Oregon (1-1) in a consolation match Sunday at 11 a.m. Central.
The Sooners ran to the doubles point with victories in the top two positions with their ranked duo of Oscar Lacides and Bruce Nhavene (No. 100) clinching the opening score.
Oklahoma then clinched and ended the dual match at 4-0 with wins in the first, third and sixth positions. Kholo Montsi was the clinching win for OU in the 3-spot.
Junior Luis Felipe Miguel was the only TU player to win a set, taking the opening advantage against No. 62 Luis Alvarez in the No. 2 position.
