Notes on the Memphis Tigers
  • The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will host the No. 9 ranked Memphis Tigers at 7 p.m. on Oct. 2, at Hurricane Soccer Stadium.
  • The Golden Hurricane hold a 2-15-4 record against the Tigers. Tulsa's last win was in 2012, when they bested Memphis 3-0.
  • Most recently, Tulsa fell to Memphis in the 2024 American Conference Championship quarterfinals, 4-2. In the regular season finale, the teams faced off in a 1-1 tie in Memphis.
  • The Tigers are looking to stay undefeated, entering the match with a 9-0-2 record for the 2025 season. Currently, Memphis leads the American with a conference record of 3-0-1 for 10 points.
  • Memphis is coming off of a 2-0 win against No. 25 Rice last Sunday, their second ranked win of the season.
Last Time Out: Tulsa Women Earn Road Point Against South Florida
  • Tulsa (6-3-4, 1-1-2) and South Florida (6-5-1, 2-1-1) played to a 3-3 draw on Sunday afternoon at Corbett Soccer Stadium.
  • The Golden Hurricane managed to secure two second-half goals to equalize after trailing by two at the break. Notably, this was the first time in five games that Tulsa scored in the first half.
  • The match between South Florida and Tulsa opened with South Florida taking an early lead in the 3rd minute as Sadie Sider-Echenberg scored, assisted by Gentiana Fetaj. The Golden Hurricane responded in the 8th minute when Jordan Frederick equalized, assisted by Kaylyn Simmons.
  • Emily Lemke restored South Florida's advantage with a goal in the 14th minute. The Bulls extended their lead further in the 43rd minute, with Fetaj finding the back of the net.
  • It took until the 56th minute for Frederick to score again, her tenth goal of the season, assisted by Addison Castleberry, narrowing South Florida's lead to 3-2. The Golden Hurricane persisted, with Castleberry finding the net in the 85th minute, equalizing the match at 3-3 with an assist from Frederick, her sixth of the season and 27th of her career.
Setting the Standard: Jordan Frederick
  • Jordan Frederick leads the nation in total points as of Sept. 30. She has 26 points on the season, her most of any season of her career.
  • Through her four seasons at Tulsa, she has recorded 64 points, the ninth most of any Golden Hurricane player.
  • She also is second in career assists of all-time Tulsa women's soccer players with 24.
  • Frederick Collects Third Honorable Mention American Player of the Week Award
  • Frederick scored two goals in one game for the fourth time this season against South Florida, also tallying an assist, to earn her third honorable mention American Player of the Week recognition on Sept. 29.
History Written in 18 Seconds
  • Against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 25, Tulsa scored twice within 18 seconds, the least time between two goals scored for the team since at least the 1999 season.
  • The goals from Parker McGraw and Hannah Chance in the 88th minute propelled Tulsa to a 2-2 tie, earning the Golden Hurricane their fourth conference point.
Second Half Comeback Queens
  • Tulsa's second half comeback against South Florida, by way of goals from Jordan Frederick and Addison Castleberry, marks the sixth time this season they have recovered from a deficit at the half to reach either a tie or a win.
  • Of those six games, three ended in ties, while three ended in victories for the Golden Hurricane.
Second Honorable Mention American Player of the Week Award For Frederick
  • With her two goals against East Texas A&M, the third time this season she has scored two goals in a game, and her assist against ORU, Jordan Frederick earned an honorable mention for American player of the week on Sept. 8.
Frederick named Honorable Mention for American Offensive Player of the Week
  • Following her two late goals and her third gamewinner of the season against Kansas City, Jordan Frederick earned an honorable mention for American Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1.
  • In her 84 minutes vs, UMKC, Frederick fired four shots, two of those on goal.
  • In the previous game against Southern Nazarene, Frederick tallied two assists. 
Frederick Earns First American Offensive Player of the Week Honors
  • After a stellar showing through the first two games of the year, Tulsa senior Jordan Frederick has been named the first American Conference Offensive Player of the Week of the 2025 season.
  • She helped lead the Golden Hurricane to a 2-0 start to the season after a 2-1 victory at Central Arkansas and a 3-2 thriller in the regular-season home-opener against Stephen F. Austin. Frederick was in on both goals against UCA, assisting the opening score and netting the game-winner in the first half.
  • Then, Frederick led the charge for TU in the second half against SFA on Sunday. Down 2-0 with less than 30 minutes to play, Frederick kickstarted a furious comeback for the Golden Hurricane, sending in two of the three goals Tulsa utilized in a six-minute span to come back and win the ballgame. Through two games, Frederick has three goals and one assist for seven points, which ranks first in the American and sixth nationally.
Kaylyn Simmons is Back
  • After exiting the season early last year with a knee injury, forward Kaylyn Simmons has worked her way back to the starting lineup for Tulsa.
  • She leveled the game against Stephen F. Austin on Sunday, helping Tulsa overcome a 2-0 deficit to ultimately win 3-2 against the defending Southland Conference champs.
  • It was her first goal since coming back from injury.
American and National Stat Rankings
  • Jordan Frederick has three gamewinning goals, the most of the players in the American Conference.
  • She ranks first in the conference for goals (8) and points (20).
  • Nationally, Frederick ranks third in total points (20) and total goals (8).
  • Ady Betchtel is 14th in the nation in total assists (5), which leads the American.
  • Tatum Sanders leads the American in total saves (36) and saves per game (4.50).
  • As a team, Tulsa is first in the conference for total goals (26) and total points (80), and second in shots on goal per game (8.00) and shots per game (16.60).
Three Golden Hurricane Named to American Preseason Watch List
  • Aniya Facen, Blaine Schutte and Kaylyn Simmons have been named to the American Conference Women's Soccer Watch List, the league announced Tuesday.
  • Three players from each program were selected for this year's watch list. Last year's regular season champion Memphis was voted to be the top squad of 2025 with six first-place votes. South Florida (4) and East Carolina (1) also received first-place votes.
  • Facen, a forward from Norman, Okla., is poised for a standout sophomore season after finishing as an All-Freshman selection last year. In 15 starts spanning 20 games played as a true freshman, Facen earned two goals and six assists for 10 total points. Her second goal was the game-winner at UTSA, which gave TU the eight-seed tiebreaker over the Roadrunners for the American Championship. She found openings in opposing defenses often, taking 28 total shots.
  • A sophomore forward from Eureka, Mo., Schutte is coming off a spectacular freshman campaign for the Golden Hurricane. She led the conference with nine goals and added two assists in the regular season to finish as the second-highest point scorer for Tulsa with 20 points. The two-time conference weekly honorable mention and one-time freshman of the week recorded braces against McNeese and Temple, Tulsa's first hat trick since 2022 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and the game-tying goal at No. 19 Memphis in the regular-season finale to finish as the 96th best freshman in the country according to Top Drawer Soccer. Schutte was awarded Second Team All-Conference and a spot on the American All-Freshman Team for her efforts.
  • Hailing from Norman, Okla., Simmons is set for a major comeback this season after sitting out all but the first two games last year with injury. She was listed on last year's watch list after earning All-Freshman and Second Team All-Conference honors during the 2023 season, where she earned three goals and two assists for eight points. She started in the first two games last season, earning a goal and two assists against Central Arkansas in the season-opener.
2025 Preseason Coaches Poll
  • The Golden Hurricane women's soccer team was picked to finish sixth of 11 teams in the preseason coaches poll.
  • The 2024 regular season champion Memphis was chosen to finish atop the conference with six first-place votes. South Florida followed with four first-place taps and defending conference tournament champion East Carolina earned the 11th and final first-place vote.
  • Rice took the third spot with ECU and North Texas rounding out the top five preseason teams.
  • Following behind Tulsa is UAB, UTSA, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte and finally Temple.

Ball Kid Sign-ups
The Tulsa soccer teams are looking for a few more ball kids for the 2025 season. Ball kids and one accompanying parent or guardian will receive free admission for games they sign up for.  Ball kids will retrieve balls that go out of bounds on the sidelines for the entire game. The minimum age to be a Ball Kid is 8 years old. Kids ages 13 or older are not eligible to participate. Groups will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up by clicking HERE.
