CONCORD, N.C. — For the 11th time in 12 years the Tulsa men's cross country team claimed the American Conference Cross Country Championship, overcoming Tulane with a late push, while Evyn Humphrey took home the individual title on the women's side on Saturday in Concord, North Carolina.

Hanging out in second as a team for much of the race, the Golden Hurricane men made a late surge and had all five scorers finish inside the top 10. Shay McEvoy led the way in third with a time of 23:32.4. Just behind him in fifth was Ben Brown's time of 23:40.2. Tulsa got eighth, ninth, and tenth place finishes from Luke Birdseye (23:52.7), Levi Rowan (23:55.4), and Charlie Krasnoff (23:56.7), to hold off Tulane for the title.

Humphrey cruised to the title on the women's side by 12.2 seconds, becoming the first Golden Hurricane to win the conference individual title since Chloe Hershenow 2022, when the event was held in Tulsa. The sophomore was second for the first half of the race before finding another gear to pull away down the stretch.

Kathryn Koonts had a strong performance, finishing 11th with a time of 20:45.1. Sara Morefield placed in the top 15, finishing 14th at 20:55.4, while Matilda Laidlaw (29th, 21:29.1) and Robyn Kowalski (31st, 21:39.4) also scored for the Golden Hurricane.

The men's race was won by Elkana Kipruto of Wichita State with a time of 23:16.6, overcoming defending champion Bernard Cheruiyot of Tulane down the home stretch. Tulsa's women finished fourth, with Tulane taking home first, followed by Rice and Charlotte.

The season continues on November 14 at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma with the full field to be announced at a later date.
