TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa was defeated 31-24 by UAB in a closely contested matchup at H.A. Chapman Stadium. Tulsa's offense was highlighted by a balanced attack, accumulating 198 rushing yards and a touchdown through the air.

Ajay Allen led the ground attack with 129 rushing yards on 27 carries and scored one touchdown. Baylor Hayes completed 11 of 22 passes for 159 yards and threw one touchdown. Ray Coney anchored the defense with 12 total tackles. Braylin Presley contributed offensively with 46 rushing yards on five attempts and added a touchdown.

The Blazers capitalized on their possession of the game, with Jalen Kitna connecting with Iverson Hooks for an 18-yard touchdown pass at 7:13, putting UAB ahead, 7-0. The Golden Hurricane responded with a sustained drive, culminating in a 26-yard field goal by Seth Morgan, narrowing the score to 7–3 with 3:30 remaining in the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Golden Hurricane capitalize on strong offensive plays to maintain its edge over the Blazers. After a turnover on downs by UAB, Allen led a drive for Tulsa, rushing for a total of 11 yards to set up Hayes' 1-yard touchdown pass to Jewlyen Roberts, putting Tulsa ahead, 10-7. UAB responded with a methodical drive, culminating in a 31-yard field goal by Delange at 1:42 to tie the game at 10–10. Tulsa quickly answered with a 67-yard drive, highlighted by Presley's 5-yard touchdown run with 32 seconds remaining, securing a 17–10 lead for the Golden Hurricane at the half.

The third quarter commenced with the Blazers closing the score gap through a methodical drive that culminated in a touchdown. Kitna connected with Brandon Hawkins Jr. on an 8-yard pass at the 10:24 mark, leveling the score at 17-17. UAB's subsequent drive ended with a missed 49-yard field goal attempt by Delange, leaving the score tied as the period concluded.

The fourth quarter started with the Golden Hurricane extending its lead on the first play, as Allen rushed 22 yards for a touchdown, putting TU ahead 24-17. The Blazers responded swiftly, with Jevon Jackson breaking through for a 20-yard touchdown run, tying the game at 24-25. Later, with 3:40 remaining, Jackson scored his second touchdown of the quarter, securing the Blazers' lead at 31-24. The Golden Hurricane's final drive stalled at the UAB 21, as a fourth-down pass from Hayes was broken up, resulting in a turnover on downs with under a minute remaining.
