Dear Golden Hurricane Faithful,
This fall has been an exciting one for Tulsa Athletics. From championship victories to unforgettable campus experiences, Tulsa Athletics is stronger and your support makes it happen! Every success reflects our commitment to developing people and inspiring community through championship athletics. Let's keep raising the standard - together.
Championship Athletics:
Our fall sports wasted no time proving that The University of Tulsa is built to compete for American Conference championships.
One of the largest highlights of the season came from our women's volleyball program, which captured its first-ever American Conference Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2012. Their 25-win season marks the program's first 20-win campaign since 2014. Individual honors further reflected the strength of the roster, with Brayden Hipp named American Conference Setter of the Year and Jill Hanson earning Freshman of the Year.

Our men's cross-country program continued its championship tradition, winning the American Conference title for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons and the first conference championship for Men's Head Coach Taylor Gulley. On the women's side, Evyn Humphrey claimed the individual American Conference Championship and finished eighth at the NCAA Midwest Regional to qualify for the NCAA Championship. There, she delivered her second-fastest 6K of the season and earned American Conference Runner of the Year honors.
Both cross country programs represented TU well at the NCAA Midwest Regional, where the men placed fourth overall and Humphrey advanced to the national stage.

Men's Basketball Energizing the TU Faithful
Head coach Eric Konkol and the Tulsa men's basketball team are off to the program's best start since the 1999-2000 season, opening with a 10–1 record and holding the top NET ranking in the American Conference. Fans can still join the momentum by purchasing three-game or five-game mini plans at the Reynolds Center. Click here to purchase a mini-plan. Later this season, Tulsa will host conference powers Memphis and Wichita State. The Golden Hurricane concludes nonconference play on December 22 against Denver before opening American Conference action at home on December 31 versus Rice.

TU Announces Superstar Zach Bryan Live at H.A. Chapman Stadium
We are thrilled to welcome Oklahoma's own Zach Bryan to H.A. Chapman Stadium for two concerts on April 3–4, 2026. Bryan's recent stadium tour included a record-setting performance at Michigan Stadium — the largest single-ticketed concert in U.S. history. With his upcoming album With Heaven on Top releasing January 9, this event will bring tremendous energy to campus and the Tulsa community. Tickets can be purchased here.

Tulsa Football Raises the Standard
The first season of the Tre Lamb era set a new tone for Golden Hurricane football. For the first time since 1951, Tulsa secured a road victory in Stillwater — a 19–12 win over Oklahoma State — and later defeated Oregon State of the Pac-12, 31–14. TU also delivered one of the year's most memorable moments with a dramatic comeback at Army, overcoming an 11-point deficit to win at West Point. These results reflect a renewed competitive edge and a foundation we will continue to build upon.

Excellence in the Classroom and Across Campus
Our student-athletes continue to excel academically and personally. This fall, Anna Lackner of TU Rowing was named one of the University's Outstanding Seniors, while Beth Bayless was recognized as one of the University's Outstanding Transfers. Their achievements demonstrate our commitment to developing leaders who succeed not only in competition, but also in the classroom and across campus.

Strategic Plan Updates
As we continue to implement the Tulsa Athletics Strategic Plan, I want to share several key highlights from this semester as we remain focused on our core pillars: Win, Develop, and Engage.
Win:
Winning two conference championships this fall is a tremendous accomplishment for the Golden Hurricane. The daily pursuit of improvement and excellence remains at the forefront of everything we do. While we celebrate these successes, we know there is still work to be done to achieve our vision of becoming the standard of excellence in our conference. Reaching that goal will take the full support of the Golden Hurricane Faithful. If you are considering a year-end gift, we encourage you to support the Golden Hurricane Champions Fund, The Case Fund, or the sport of your choice through the Loyal Always True Fund.
Develop:
Developing our coaches and staff personally and professionally will always be a top priority. As part of this commitment, the Tulsa Athletics Leadership Program hosted two impactful sessions this fall. In October, we were honored to welcome TU alumna Katy Young Staudt, Managing Director – College Sports at TurnkeyZRG, who led a session and shared invaluable insights with our department. We look forward to hosting more great sessions this spring and continuing our professional development efforts.
Engage:
Our efforts to engage both campus and community have resulted in several exciting developments. In addition to the upcoming Zach Bryan concert, we partnered with Marshall Brewing Company to launch Tulsa Golden Lager—TU's first craft beer. Owned and operated by TU alumnus Eric Marshall, the partnership provides meaningful financial support while increasing TU's visibility at retailers across Northeast Oklahoma. Finally, we welcomed more than 3,000 elementary school students from the Tulsa area to the Reynolds Center today for our women's basketball game against Arkansas–Pine Bluff. Students attended at no cost to them or their schools and enjoyed an unforgettable game-day experience.

To our fans, alumni, and supporters — thank you. Your energy, encouragement, and belief in our mission to DEVELOP our people, ENGAGE our community, and WIN championships fuel our progress.
Let's continue building something special — together.
Sincerely,

Justin Moore
