TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Vice President and Director of Athletics Justin Moore announced Tuesday the appointment of Kellee Cooper as the school's director of spirit programs. Cooper has served as the interim director since December prior to her elevation to the permanent role.

"We are excited to officially make Kellee part of the Golden Hurricane family," Moore said. "Kellee has a background in cheer, pom and mascots, making her the perfect fit to oversee our spirit programs and elevate our spirit teams to a new level."

"I am so humbled and honored to be selected as the new director of spirit programs here at the University of Tulsa," Cooper said. "I feel this is a great opportunity to combine my years of experience and my passion for game day spirit enhancement. Reign 'Cane!"

Prior to joining TU as the interim head coach, Cooper had worked as the event director and head tabulator for Inferno Dance/Team Union. Alongside managing all onsite staff and providing support, she coordinated the run of show, oversaw the judging system for competitions and completed all technical setup.

While continuing to work in her role with Inferno Dance/Team Union, Cooper joined Sapulpa High School in July 2024 as assistant cheer coach. With Sapulpa, Cooper provided chorography for game day and competition, developed an injury protection plan, performed administrative duties and created social media content for the team.

Cooper has a plethora of experience both as a dancer and coach. She enjoyed four seasons as a professional dancer with the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League. She captained the Titans cheerleading squad from 2017-19 and was the cheerleading team's Pro Bowl representative in 2019. She has also worked as a freelance choreographer at the high school, collegiate and NFL levels.

Following the end of her professional dancing career, Cooper got her start in the business side of the industry with Tri Star Sports & Entertainment in Nashville, Tenn., where she worked from 2019 through until joining Inferno in 2021.

A Bristow, Okla., native, Cooper attended Oklahoma State, where she was a member of the Spirit Squad. She performed with OSU's pom squad for four years and was named a Sports Illustrated Cheerleader of the Week once. Cooper graduated in May of 2013 with a degree in strategic communications.
