Looking at the Lumberjacks
  • This will be the seventh all-time contest between Tulsa and Stephen F. Austin.
  • The Golden Hurricane leads the series 3-2-1 entering Sunday's action.
  • The last matchup between the two teams was in 2023, where SFA snuck away with a 1-0 winner in Tulsa.
  • SFA played to a 1-1 draw in their season opener. Scoring their only goal was freshman Taylor Dodson.
  • The Lumberjacks are coming off one of their best seasons in program history. They went 14-4-2 overall, winning the Southland Conference regular season and tournament titles.
  • A 1-0 loss to TCU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament ended their season.

Schutte and Frederick Back to their Scoring Ways
  • Sophomore Blaine Schutte and senior Jordan Frederick, both forwards, were responsible for Tulsa's two goals in the season-opening win at Central Arkansas.
  • Frederick's right cross set up Schutte in the box for the Golden Hurricane's opening score of the season.
  • Later in the first half, the pair swapped roles as Schutte set up Frederick for the game-winner.
  • Schutte has 10 career goals entering Sunday's game against SFA, while Frederick now has 19 career assists, which ties Shari Rozmus (1988-91), Jamie German (2002-05) and Jordan O'Brien (2010-13) for the second-most assists in program history.

Three Golden Hurricane Named to American Preseason Watch List
  • Aniya Facen, Blaine Schutte and Kaylyn Simmons have been named to the American Conference Women's Soccer Watch List.
  • Three players from each program were selected for this year's watch list. Last year's regular season champion Memphis was voted to be the top squad of 2025 with six first-place votes. South Florida (4) and East Carolina (1) also received first-place votes.
  • Facen, a forward from Norman, Okla., is poised for a standout sophomore season after finishing as an All-Freshman selection last year. In 15 starts spanning 20 games played as a true freshman, Facen earned two goals and six assists for 10 total points. Her second goal was the game-winner at UTSA, which gave TU the eight-seed tiebreaker over the Roadrunners for the American Championship. She found openings in opposing defenses often, taking 28 total shots.
  • A sophomore forward from Eureka, Mo., Schutte is coming off a spectacular freshman campaign for the Golden Hurricane. She led the conference with nine goals and added two assists in the regular season to finish as the second-highest point scorer for Tulsa with 20 points. The two-time conference weekly honorable mention and one-time freshman of the week recorded braces against McNeese and Temple, Tulsa's first hat trick since 2022 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and the game-tying goal at No. 19 Memphis in the regular-season finale to finish as the 96th best freshman in the country according to Top Drawer Soccer. Schutte was awarded Second Team All-Conference and a spot on the American All-Freshman Team for her efforts.
  • Hailing from Norman, Okla., Simmons is set for a major comeback this season after sitting out all but the first two games last year with injury. She was listed on last year's watch list after earning All-Freshman and Second Team All-Conference honors during the 2023 season, where she earned three goals and two assists for eight points. She started in the first two games last season, earning a goal and two assists against Central Arkansas in the season-opener.

2025 Preseason Coaches' Poll
  • The Golden Hurricane women's soccer team was picked to finish sixth of 11 teams in the preseason coaches' poll.
  • The 2024 regular season champion Memphis was chosen to finish atop the conference with six first-place votes. South Florida followed with four first-place taps and defending conference tournament champion East Carolina earned the 11th and final first-place vote.
  • Rice took the third spot with ECU and North Texas rounding out the top five preseason teams.
  • Following behind Tulsa is UAB, UTSA, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte and finally Temple.
