TOKYO, Japan — Former University of Tulsa standout distance runners Peter Lynch (2017-22) and Ben Preisner (2016-19) raced together in the marathon at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, each earning top-50 placements in the event.

Lynch placed 24th in 2:14:12, while Preisner finished 36th in 2:17:32.

Hailing from Kilkenny, Ireland, Lynch was a two-time cross country All-American for Tulsa in 2019 and 2020, as well as a two-time all-region and three-time all-conference cross country runner. He also earned all-conference accolades in outdoor track and field once.

Preisner, a native of Milton, Ontario, was a seven-time all-conference track and field performer for Tulsa. He was a routine champion for the Golden Hurricane in the 3,000m and 5,000m events at the American Championships, finishing with four gold medals to help keep Tulsa at the top of long-distance running in the conference during his time at TU.
