TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa fell to Tulane University 31-14 on Saturday afternoon at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

Baylor Hayes completed 18 of 36 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown. Elijah Green led the defense with 10 total tackles. Tim Hardiman contributed on both sides of the ball, recording five tackles and scoring a rushing touchdown. Grayson Tempest made an impact with two receptions for 84 yards.

Tulane (4-1, 1-0 American) quickly capitalized, driving 75 yards in 7 plays, culminating in an 8-yard touchdown run by Jake Retzlaff at 11:28, which put the Green Wave ahead 7–0. Tulsa (2-3, 0-2 American) responded with a strong 75-yard drive of their own. Key plays on the drive included a 51-yard pass from Hayes to Tempest, setting up a 1-yard touchdown run by Hardiman at 9:14, which tied the game at 7–7.

Tulane extended its lead early in the second quarter with a 12-yard touchdown run by Javin Gordon at 12:10, making the score 14-7. The Golden Hurricane responded with a striking 72-yard touchdown pass from Hayes to Brody Foley at 6:57, leveling the score at 14-14. Tulane regained the lead with a 25-yard touchdown run by Gordon, his second of the quarter, at 2:13, and Durkin's kick brought the score to 21-14. In the final moments of the quarter, the Green Wave capitalized on a field position advantage with a 28-yard field goal by Durkin, closing the half at 24-14.

In the third quarter, Tulane extended its lead with a methodical drive, culminating in a 4-yard touchdown run by Gordon at 5:28, bringing the score to 31-14 in favor of the Green Wave. The Golden Hurricane's offense struggled to gain momentum, with Hayes being sacked for an 11-yard loss by Makai Williams, stalling their drive. Despite a few successful rushing plays by Dominic Richardson and Ajay Allen, Tulsa was unable to capitalize further, ending the quarter without additional points.

The fourth quarter began with Hayes throwing an interception to Jahiem Johnson, who returned it 15 yards to the Green Wave 47-yard line at 14:50. The Golden Hurricane then struggled offensively, facing a sack from Harvey Dyson III, and later failing to convert on fourth down deep in Green Wave territory. Tulsa's final drive saw them reach the Tulane 4-yard line, but they were unable to score, and Tulane ran out the clock to secure a 31–14 victory.

The next challenge for the Golden Hurricane is a trip to Memphis to face the Tigers at the Liberty Bowl on October 4 with kickoff set for 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
