•  The win snapped a three-game losing streak that carried over from the 2024 season.

Richardson shines in TU Debut
• In his first game in the Blue and Gold, Dominic Richardson became Tulsa's first 100-yard rusher of 2025.
• Richardson carried 20 times for 142 yards and a touchdown, including a career-long 57-yard scoring run. His 142 yards rank 12th nationally in a single game this season.
• The 142 yards marked his second-highest career total, behind only his 169-yard outing vs. Baylor on Dec. 12, 2020.
• He became Tulsa's first 100-yard rusher since Anthony Watkins posted 101 yards at South Florida (Nov. 23, 2024) — TU's lone 100-yard rushing game last year.
• It was the fourth 100-yard performance of his career and his first since Sept. 10, 2022, vs. Arizona State while at Oklahoma State.
• His 20 carries were the most since Oct. 15, 2022, when he logged 22 vs. TCU, marking just the sixth time in his career with 20+ rushing attempts.
• Richardson averaged 7.1 yards per carry, the fourth-best single-game average of his career.

Newcomers Making a Name at TU
• In his first game at the helm, Head Coach Tre Lamb saw several Golden Hurricane newcomers shine in the win over ACU.
Ray Coney (ETSU transfer): Led the TU defense with 14 tackles and 1.5 TFLs. His 14 stops tied for the most in the AAC in Week 1.
Byron Turner Jr. (Florida State transfer): Collected three sacks for -20 yards, the first Hurricane with 3.0+ sacks in a game since Ben Kopenski vs. North Texas (Nov. 18, 2023).
J'Dan Burnett: Added two sacks, building on his career total of five entering 2025.
Dominic Richardson (Oklahoma State/Baylor transfer): Rushed for 142 yards on 20 carries, including a career-long 57-yard TD. It was his fourth career 100-yard rushing game.
Zion Booker (Western Carolina transfer): Paced TU receivers with six catches for 67 yards and a touchdown in his first FBS game.
Micah Tease (Texas A&M transfer): Tulsa native returned home, hauling in four receptions for 69 yards, surpassing his two-catch total from two seasons at A&M.
Ajay Allen (Nebraska/Miami transfer): Added 67 yards on nine carries, highlighted by a 40-yard touchdown run.

• Offensive Line Impact: With newcomers Cam East, Simon Wilson, Sean Hill, JaQuan Adams, and Codie Hornsby in the trenches, TU powered to 263 rushing yards and allowed zero sacks.

Forcing Pressure
• Tulsa's defense made its presence felt in the opener, piling up five sacks against Abilene Christian.
Byron Turner Jr. led the charge with three sacks, becoming the first Golden Hurricane with a three-sack game since Ben Kopenski vs. North Texas (Nov. 18, 2023). Turner is also just the second TU player since 2008 to post three sacks in a season opener, joining Zaven Collins.
J'Dan Burnett added two sacks of his own to round out TU's dominant pass rush.
• The Golden Hurricane matched last year's single-game high (five sacks vs. Louisiana Tech) in just the first week. TU had 19 total sacks in all of 2024.
• Tulsa's five sacks were the most by any American Conference team in Week 1

Pounding the rock
• Tulsa's ground game set the tone in Tre Lamb's debut, rolling up 263 rushing yards in the season opener. It marked the 71st time since 1995 that TU has topped 250 rushing yards in a game.
• The last time Tulsa hit that mark came in the 2024 opener, when the Hurricane rushed for 323 yards against Northwestern State.
• Behind a strong offensive line, TU averaged 5.7 yards per carry and scored two rushing touchdowns.
Dominic Richardson led the way with 142 yards and a 57-yard TD run, while Ajay Allen added 67 yards on nine carries, including a 40-yard touchdown, averaging 7.4 yards per carry.
• In total, five different players set career highs in the run game.
• Tulsa's 46 rushing attempts were its most since Nov. 23, 2024, at South Florida (47 attempts). TU had five games with 40+ rush attempts in 2024.

foley's first reception
• After three seasons at Indiana where he appeared in 20 games primarily on special teams, Brody Foley made an immediate impact in his Tulsa debut.
• Entering his redshirt junior season, Foley had never recorded a collegiate reception.
• Against Abilene Christian, he hauled in his first career catch — a 22-yard touchdown that extended Tulsa's lead to 35-0.

2025 CAPTAINS
•  Head Coach Tre Lamb announced the 2025 team captains on Sunday night ahead of the season opener.

• Expanding across the state, Tulsa's roster features 31 players from Oklahoma. Key transfers returning home include JD Drew, Micah Tease, Sevion Morrison, and Dominic Richardson.
• Lamb has emphasized that keeping homegrown talent in Tulsa not only strengthens the roster but also deepens the program's connection with fans and alumni.
