Golden Hurricane Come Up Short Against SMU

DALLAS, Texas – Tulsa men's tennis dropped a 4-1 decision to SMU on Sunday afternoon at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.
The Golden Hurricane opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger earned a decisive 6-2 victory over Georgi Georgiev and Krish Arora, while Gus Tettamble and Victor Tosetto followed with a 6-3 win against Jerry Barton and Vikas Deo. The match on court one was left unfinished, with SMU holding a 5-4 edge.
SMU answered in singles play, winning four straight matches to clinch the dual. Trevor Svajda leveled the score with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Volonski on court one. Jerry Barton gave the Mustangs the lead after defeating Tettamble 6-2, 6-0 on court five, followed by Krish Arora's 6-3, 7-5 victory over Connor Doig at No. 4 singles.
The match was decided on court six, where Noah McDonald edged Tosetto 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) to secure the fourth point for SMU.
Three singles matches were left unfinished, including a tightly contested battle on court two between Alex Finkelstein and Carlsson Seger, and a back-and-forth match on court three between Georgiev and Ruben Fernandez.
The Golden Hurricane will look to bounce back from the loss on Feb. 3, when they host ORU at Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.
