STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Maura Moore closed the weekend with a dominant performance in a 3-1 win over Pitt in Stephenville. Moore struck out 11 and allowed just three hits in her fourth complete game of the season and picked up her third win in as many days in the circle.
Faith Russell had a pair of hits and walked. Madison Garcia had a pair of RBI and scored a run while Maci Cole had the other RBI.
In the second inning, Annika Dill was hit by a pitch and later scored on a groundout by Garcia, giving Tulsa an early lead. The score was 1-0 after two innings.
In the fifth inning, Pitt tied the game at 1-1, scoring on a throwing error. However, Tulsa capitalized on multiple fielding errors by Pitt, allowing Cole to reach base and eventually score, reclaiming the lead. The inning concluded with Tulsa ahead 2-1.
The sixth inning saw another run from Tulsa. Malia Cabuyaban, after being hit by a pitch and stealing second, was driven home by Garcia's single to right center, extending Tulsa's advantage to 3-1.
Moore finished the weekend with 20.1 innings in the circle, 24 strikeouts, pitched to a 1.03 ERA, and won all three games she appeared in.
