Pair of Walk-Off Wins Leads Tulsa to Seventh Win in Nine Games

TULSA, Okla. — It's been a weekend of walk-offs for Tulsa, winning in walk-off fashion twice on Saturday at the Collins Family Softball Complex. The Golden Hurricane beat South Dakota State, 4-3, on thanks to a single by Malia Cabuyaban before Emma Vickrey's solo home run knocked off SE Missouri, 5-4 in the second game. Tulsa has now won three games over two days, all via walk-off.
In the first game against South Dakota State, Faith Russell contributed significantly by hitting 2-for-3 with a triple and driving in one run. Madison Garcia drove in one run and added a double, finishing with a hit in three at-bats. Mackenzy Glenn reached base three times, recording a hit and two walks, and scored one run. Brinly Maples delivered 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two batters and allowing four hits.
In the second inning, the Hurricane took the lead when Glenn scored on Garcia's double to right center. Russell then tripled, bringing Garcia home, and Amber Turner followed with an infield single, driving in Russell. Tulsa ended the inning ahead, 3-0. South Dakota State responded in the fifth inning. Bria Riebel hit a solo home run to center, followed by a two-run homer from Akayla Barnard, tying the game at 3-3. The game remained tense until the bottom of the seventh inning. Claira Skaggs walked and advanced to second on Glenn's walk. Cabuyaban then delivered a walk-off single up the middle, scoring Skaggs to seal the win for the Golden Hurricane. Final score: Tulsa 4, South Dakota State 3.
In the second game against SE Missouri, Emma Vickrey had a standout performance with two hits, including a home run, and collected two RBI. Isabella Arroyo pitched four innings in relief, allowing just two hits and striking out three batters to earn the win. Faith Russell posted two hits in four plate appearances, adding a double to her tally. Maci Cole recorded two hits and one RBI, providing a solid performance at the plate.

The seventh inning saw the visitors tie the game once more, scoring an unearned run on a fielding error. With the game on the line, Vickrey delivered for the Golden Hurricane with a walk-off home run to left field, sealing the victory at 5-4.
Tulsa closes the Hurricane Invitational on Sunday at noon when they host SEMO once again.
