LAKE CHARLES, La. — Despite a strong pitching performance by Maura Moore against ULM and some early offense against McNeese, Tulsa fell in both halves of a doubleheader on Saturday in Lake Charles. Tulsa dropped the first game to McNeese, 13-5, before falling to ULM, 4-3, on a late run.
In the game against McNeese, Tulsa's offensive highlight came from a four-run fourth inning, but McNeese responded with a decisive nine-run sixth inning to secure the victory. Mackenzy Glenn recorded two RBIs and hit a home run in her three at-bats, the first of her collegiate career. Amber Turner added two hits, including a double, and drove in one run. Claira Skaggs contributed with a double and scored one run. Tallulah Pascucci also delivered a strong performance with a double, one RBI, and a run scored. Brinly Maples pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 3 hits after earning the start.
Tulsa opened the game with a scoreless first inning, with Maci Cole and Skaggs both flying out to center field. McNeese also failed to score in the first, despite an error that allowed a baserunner to advance to second. The score remained 0-0 after the first inning. Tulsa scored in the sixth inning when Pascucci advanced to third on a wild pitch and was brought home on an error, taking a 5-4 lead. However, McNeese responded with a decisive offensive surge, driving in nine runs, including a three-run home run by Taylor, M., and a two-RBI double by Pruitt. This offensive onslaught secured a 13-5 victory for McNeese.
