LAFAYETTE, La. — Tulsa capitalized on an explosive second inning, scoring five runs, and held off a late Jacksonville State rally in the seventh inning to secure an 8-7 win on Sunday at Lamson Park in Lafayette, Louisiana for the team's first win of the season.
Maci Cole scored three runs and reached base five times on the afternoon. Claira Skaggs drove in three runs with a triple, showcasing her ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. Annika Dill added a run and an RBI while hitting a double. Additionally, Alexa Hopkins pitched four innings, allowing only two earned runs and striking out two batters, securing a win for her performance on the mound. Brinly Maples shut the door in the seventh for the save.
Makenzie Freeman started on the mound for the Golden Hurricane, pitching 2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 4 runs, and striking out 2 batters.
