Men’s Tennis Drops 4-0 Decision to No. 9 San Diego

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa men's tennis (8-8) fell 4-0 to No. 9 San Diego (8-3) in an afternoon match at Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The loss marked the Golden Hurricane's fourth against a ranked opponent this season, as Tulsa is still seeking its first ranked win.
Tulsa held San Diego to tight results in multiple doubles matches. The first match to finish was a 6-2 victory for the Toreros over Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger at the No. 2 spot. The doubles point was clinched in a tiebreaker, with Victor Tosetto and Gus Tettamble pushing their match to a 7-6 (7-5) finish. At the No. 1 position, Calum Jestin and Connor Doig held the No. 15-ranked doubles team in the nation to a 6-5 unfinished score, with San Diego leading when play was halted.
No. 32-ranked Oliver Tarnet defeated Volonski in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, to earn the first singles point for San Diego. Ruben Fernandez was the next Tulsa player off the court, falling 6-1, 6-2. The clinching point came at the No. 2 position, where Vincent Marysko topped Carlsson Seger in consecutive 6-2 sets.
The Golden Hurricane will next host fellow American Conference members Florida Atlantic for a nonconference match on Mar. 3, with teams taking the courts at 12:00 p.m.
