Bats Break Out for Three Homers as Tulsa Splits Doubleheader with UAB

4/11/2026 6:24:00 PM | Softball

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa's offense had a strong start to the day in the first game of a doubleheader with UAB. A pair of home runs and some timely hitting led the Golden Hurricane to a 9-1 win but the Blazers reversed course in the second game, taking it 13-1.

In the first game, Tulsa's offense was explosive, producing 13 hits, including two home runs and three doubles. Claira Skaggs led the way with three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Maura Moore pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run while striking out five batters. Mackenzy Glenn scored twice, reaching base with a hit and drawing two walks. Daeya Moses contributed with a solo home run and also scored twice.

In the first inning of the day, Glenn walked and advanced to second on a groundout, setting the stage for Amber Turner to drive her in with a single up the middle. Turner later scored on a single by Maci Cole, giving Tulsa an early 2-0 lead after one inning.

In the second inning, Preslee Ray singled and advanced to second on a walk before Skaggs singled through the right side to drive Ray home. The score was 3-0 in favor of Tulsa through two innings.

The third inning saw Faith Russell singling to center and eventually scoring on a single by Ray, extending Tulsa's lead to 4-0. UAB responded in the fourth inning with a solo home run by Carlie Wilkins. Tulsa answered back when Glenn singled and Skaggs hit a two-run homer, followed by a solo home run from Moses, pushing the score to 7-1 through four innings.

In the sixth inning, Moses walked and advanced to second before Russell doubled to drive her home. Aliya Scarborough, pinch-hitting for Ray, singled to bring Russell home, capping the scoring at 9-1.

The second game was a reversal of the first with UAB taking it 13-1. Tulsa scored in the bottom of the first on a home run by Skaggs but that was all the offense they could muster in the second game.

These two teams close the three-game set tomorrow at noon.
