BOCA RATON, Fla. — The University of Tulsa fell to Florida Atlantic University, 9–3, on Saturday at FAU Softball Stadium. Tulsa scored all three of its runs in the third inning but could not overcome Florida Atlantic's 10 hits and two home runs.
Mackenzy Glenn led the offensive effort with two hits, including a double, and one RBI. Daeya Moses contributed by reaching base on a walk, scoring a run, and stealing a base. Maci Cole added to the scoring with one hit, one RBI, and also stole a base. On the mound, Isabella Arroyo pitched 3.0 innings, allowing one earned run on two hits while issuing two walks.
Florida Atlantic took an early lead in the first inning with a three-run homer by Chloe Yeatts, bringing in Kylie Hammonds and Bella Foran. The inning concluded with Florida Atlantic ahead, 3–0.
In the second inning, they extended their lead to 4–0 after Yani Guzman scored on Hannah Rivers' RBI single.
Tulsa responded in the third inning. Madison Garcia walked and scored on a double by Glenn. After a walk to Moses, Glenn scored on a single by Cole. Tulsa then used a little small ball to score again. Cole stole second and on the throw, Moses sprinted home to make it 4-3.
That's as close as it would get as the Owls scored three in their half of the third and two more in the sixth to put this game out of reach.
The rubber match starts tomorrow at 11 a.m. with Tulsa looking for its fourth series win in five tries.
