BOCA RATON, Fla. — Tulsa fell to Florida Atlantic 5–1 at FAU Softball Stadium on Sunday.
Tulsa (17-26, 8-13) managed seven hits in the contest, including two doubles, but could not overcome Florida Atlantic's early lead. Florida Atlantic (29-17, 10-11) secured the win with consistent scoring, highlighted by a three-run third inning.
Claira Skaggs posted two hits, including a double, contributing to the team's offensive efforts. Annika Dill scored a run and collected a double, showcasing her ability to advance on the bases. Emma Vickrey recorded two hits and drove in a run, highlighting her impact at the plate. Alexa Hopkins pitched 3.0 innings in relief, striking out four and allowing only one hit.
. In the first inning, Florida Atlantic took an early lead with a double to left center by Kylie Hammonds, scoring Jesiana Mora. Ciara Gibson later singled, bringing Hammonds home, ending the inning with Florida Atlantic ahead 2–0.
The third inning saw Jesiana Mora hit a three-run homer, extending Florida Atlantic's lead as Bella Foran and Hannah Rivers also crossed the plate. After three innings, Florida Atlantic led 5–0.
Tulsa managed to break through in the seventh inning. Dill doubled to left field, and Vickrey singled, driving Dill home. Despite this effort, Tulsa concluded the game with a final score of 5–1 in favor of Florida Atlantic.
The Golden Hurricane are home for the last time this season next week. They'll open the action against Arkansas before closing the home slate against East Carolina beginning Friday.
