Tulsa Tied for Fifth After 36 Holes at NCAA Waco Regional

WACO, Texas — The University of Tulsa women's golf team is tied for fifth place after 36 holes of the NCAA Waco Regional at Ridgewood Country Club. The Golden Hurricane stand at six-over par 566 heading into Wednesday's final round.
No. 21 SMU extended its lead during the second round with an 11-under par performance and sits atop the leaderboard at 14-under par 546. Tulsa remains firmly in contention, tied for fifth and within reach of a qualifying position for the NCAA Championship.
At the conclusion of regional play, the top five teams from each of the six regional sites will advance to the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, Calif. Additionally, the top individual not on an advancing team from each regional will earn a berth in the national championship field.

Sophomore Samantha Olson led Tulsa's charge in the second round, climbing four spots on the leaderboard. Olson turned in a steady round highlighted by nine pars on her opening nine holes before recording a birdie on her 10th hole. After seven more pars, she closed with an eagle on her final hole to finish the day at three-under par 137, putting herself in fifth place.
Romaine Masserey and Allyn Stephens each carded even-par rounds of 70 on Tuesday. Masserey made the turn at one-under par before battling through the back nine and finishing strong with a closing birdie. She is tied for 18th overall at one-over par 141.
Stephens responded to an early challenge with resilience, bouncing back from two early bogeys with a pair of birdies to settle into her round. She added steady play down the stretch to post an even-par score and is tied for 31st at four-over par 144.
Zoe Shamy is also tied for 31st place at four-over par 144 after posting a three-over par 73 in the second round, highlighted by a birdie.
Jenni Roller rounds out the Tulsa lineup, sitting in 60th place at 21-over par 161 after shooting nine-over par 79 in the second round.
Tulsa returns to action Wednesday for the final round of the NCAA Waco Regional. The Golden Hurricane will tee off from hole 10 beginning at 8 a.m. CT and will be paired with No. 8 Oregon and Baylor as they look to secure a spot in the NCAA Championship.
