TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa defeated Abilene Christian 2-0 on Thursday. Tulsa put 10 of its 15 shots on goal and held Abilene Christian to three shots on target in the shutout. The Golden Hurricane are undefeated at home so far.

After an early Tulsa corner, Ady Bechtel scored at 1:55 off Addison Castleberry's assist to give Tulsa a 1-0 lead. It was Bechtel's first goal of the season and the fourth of her career. Abilene Christian came back with Mikayla Abrenica's saved shot at 2:32, and the middle of the half included five Tulsa fouls from 12:07 to 22:57 around an Aniya Facen shot on frame and an Abilene Christian corner. Jordan Frederick had two attempts later in the half, sending one shot high at 29:44 and putting another on frame for a Bella Medrano save at 34:12. Abilene Christian generated late attempts from Amelia Miller and Charlise Smith, with Maddy Nigey saving Smith's shot at 40:23, before Tulsa added a corner and a saved shot by Blaine Schutte to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

With Tulsa ahead 1-0, the home side built pressure early in the second half as Maggie SymSmith took two shots, Castleberry and SymSmith forced saves from Bella Medrano, and Tulsa earned two corner kicks between 51:48 and 60:46. Abilene Christian answered with chances from Baylie Simon and Jenna Verplancke, and Nigey kept out Nia Leslie's attempt at 67:22 during a stretch that also included multiple Tulsa fouls and a yellow card. Tulsa pushed again late, with Schutte and SymSmith putting shots on frame before Schutte scored at 84:52 off an assist from Castleberry to extend the lead to 2-0. It was Schutte's first goal of the year and the 19th of her career. Schutte forced another save at 86:13, and after a late Abilene Christian corner and a shot by Mikayla Abrenica went high, Tulsa closed out the 2-0 win.

Head coach Jim Rhein pointed to the result and Schutte's performance, saying, "Blaine playing, even with limited minutes, was able to step on and score a goal and have chances." Rhein added, "We're excited about what we did today, the way we bounced back from a rough weekend, and we look forward to Sunday." Tulsa is back in the win column after two road losses.

Tulsa is 4-2-0 overall. Abilene Christian is 2-2-2 overall.

Up next, Tulsa hosts East Texas A&M on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. at Hurricane Soccer Stadium in Tulsa, Okla.
