Kyle Grooms

Former University of Tulsa football student-athlete and four-year letterman Kyle Grooms serves as the school's associate athletic director for operations and internal affairs. He moved over to the administrative side of athletics on January 4, 2019, following eight years as the director of football operations for the Golden Hurricane.

Grooms assumed his position as director of football operations on July 15, 2011. During his time on the football staff, Tulsa teams played in four bowl games – 2011 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, 2012 AutoZone Liberty Bowl, 2015 Camping World Independence Bowl and 2016 Miami Beach Bowl.

Before returning to his alma mater, Grooms spent one year working for Caption Colorado, a real time closed captioning business in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
 
Grooms originally came to Tulsa as a walk-on football athlete in 2003 and after red-shirting that season played in 44 career games. He was put on scholarship in his junior season.
 
In his five years as a student-athlete, Grooms was a member of four Bowl teams and played in 44 career games. The receiver completed his career with 12 receptions for 111 yards and three touchdowns. As a senior in 2007, Grooms caught six passes for 56 yards with two going for TDs, while serving as a team captain that year.
 
A native of Englewood, Colorado, Grooms received his bachelor’s degree from TU in marketing in 2008. He also earned a master’s degree in business in 2010, while working as a graduate assistant in the Tulsa athletics office for two years.
 
He and his wife, Jess, have two sons: Eli and Jennings.
